About Contemporary Aesthetics

As an on-line publication, Contemporary Aesthetics offers an ideal opportunity for advancing broad and easy communication at no cost to readers. The speed and ease with which material can be distributed make deadlines for specific issues unnecessary. Dispensing with printing technology removes space restrictions and allows the publication of all work that meets the journal's scholarly and editorial standards. Moreover, as an on-line publication, CA provides texts that can easily be downloaded, copied, searched for key concepts, and excerpted without the need for scanning or re-typing. This kind of publication also allows us to make full use of additional materials to supplement the text, such as images, musical examples, and video clips. Most of all, an on-line publication, CA offers easy and universal accessibility.

Contemporary Aesthetics began publication in mid-2003 in the form of annual volumes. Contemporary Aesthetics welcomes articles, symposia, forums, proposals for special volumes, and announcements. All submissions and proposals are reviewed. Articles are blind-refereed and peer-reviewed, and are added to the volume immediately after acceptance, the volume growing regularly during the course of the year. The journal is accessible from its website at no cost. Such a rapid publication schedule encourages timely communication and exchange. To further aid scholarly communication, the Links page of Contemporary Aesthetics contains links to other relevant on-line publications. Contemporary Aesthetics is indexed in The Philosopher's Index, Ulrich's Periodicals Directory,Google Scholar, and EBSCO.
